1975..Let's Keep It Alive!
by Englishman in1975. the end of 6000 years of man's existence, and logically, therefore, the start of the 1000 year reign, which meant that armageddon had to be done and dusted before that.. i remember it well!
the hype at assemblies, my dad giving up his job and selling his home to move where the "need was great", now minimised by mother with her "oh so you're another seventy-fiver are you" comments.. now it's just something that occasionally embarrasses jw's, some of them deny it ever happened, others think that it was all too long ago to be relevent.. maybe we need to put 1975 into a slot where we can all relate to it.
maybe those of us who remember that year could chip in as well.. so, what did happen in 1975?

If you saw a serious car accident, would you...
by JH inif you saw a serious car accident, and people were trapped in the car, or unconscious in the wreck, would you try to get them out even if the car was on fire and could explode at any moment?.
coming back from quebec city today, i saw a car or truck in the ditch upside down and with lots of smoke coming out of the wreckage.
4 or 5 cars were stopped near by to look at the accident.

What are they trying to say?
by Been there inlast saturday i was blessed with a visit from the witnesses (again).. i opened my door and standing there was an elderly "brother" and a young "sister" of about 10 or 11. he started to speak and i just said "i'm not interested" and started to shut the door.
he starts to talk again and i said "i'm not interested" in more of a tone that said what part of not interested don't you understand, and i shut the door.
my husband looked out the window and made an observation.

He starts to talk again and I said "I'm NOT interested" in more of a tone that said what part of NOT INTERESTED don't you understand, and I shut the door.
My husband looked out the window and made an observation. He wanted to know why all the old men had canes and young girls? I looked out and in the whole picture was 3 sets of old men with canes and young girls. Are they trying to portray something? I'm old, be nice to me? or If we were full of pedeophiles (sp) would anyone trust me with their daughters? or are they using the kids as "be nice shields", knowing most people won't be so rude with a kid around?
I don't have the ability to stand and argue with them about doctrine. I am going to make a list and just ask if they are aware of certain things going on. I don't want an answer back, just for them to think. I would like to tell the next little girl (or boy) that comes with an old man that if anyone touches you in a way that makes you feel bad in anyway, to tell someone NOT in the congragation right away. How fast do you think they would get off my porch?

well this really sucks
by SpiceItUp inyou ever have one of those things that happen to you that just leaves you speechless.
well the other day one of my best friends (someone i have known for years) told me that they might have cancer.
they have a tumor in their leg that just changed size as well as a small lump in their arm.

Spice,
Be a friend to hear their worries about the tests to come. Be there for them while they wait for the results. Not all lumps are cancer. Not all cancers are deadly. They are making great progress with the treatment of cancer. My neighbour next door had a lump between his knee and calf 5 1/2 years ago. It was cancer in the muscle. They removed it all, no chemo or radiation. He is cancer free. He had two small kids to raise on his own. So it is not always fatal. They have come along, long way. It is not rosy for all though. Many do not make it and I am sorry for all the ones here who have lost loved ones. I know the pain.
Try to keep your friend calm untill they have diagnosed it as cancer. If it is, then worry.

How do you 'feel' loved?
by Maverick intony robbins claims there are three basic ways people 'feel' loved.
some need to be told.
for them hearing those words expresses love.

Thanks Maverick I wish you could too. I don't ever see him changing. He says he tries but he doesn't. I would know.

My husband does two things that I'm sure he thinks tells me he loves me. He says I love you when he hangs up and he opens my car door. Telling me he loves me but in no way showing it, doesn't mean a thing to me. I can open my own car door. If he is showing me it is so weak I'm not picking up on it. I need to be touched (mostly in the heart) He can't stand to be touched (unless I mean business) and he only touches me when he means business, he's hurt my feelings and disappointed me so much over the years (there ain't no business).
I also put alot of importance on presents. Since I never got them as a kid and was not celebrated in anyway I somehow equate it to love or being lovable. He is a miserable gift giver. He gave me a candy bar for my Birthday one year. I feel that if you can't put any thought into a present you don't love me. It doesn't have to cost a penny, just has to say you are special to me, I pay enough attention to you to know what will make you happy. He could care less about presents. He says "You have the checkbook, you can buy what ever you want". Where do they sell husbands? I have grown to not care about them either. I am not worthy I am convinced. He forgot our 23rd wedding anniversary in May. All I could say was "Don't worry about it, it doesn't matter". I does matter though. I think I'll go have a good cry. Send presents................

Surname Change: your opinions please
by RAYZORBLADE inhey folks.. i have been debating for some time about changing my surname.. as it stands, it's in its typical patriarchial form (my father's surname) and honestly, i'd like to change it to my mother's surname.. i would not deny that my father was my father, but i cannot say that he, or his family have been ever there for me.
my memories of them, for the most part are awful.. my mother is no angel, nor is she perfect, but i do have some connection to that side, and my grandmother (maternal) is my number 1 support person in the family.
when i think back at family that were there for me during rough times, it was relatives on my mom's side.

Ray,
MacLeod does have a nice ring to it. I think it is very easy and cheap to change your name. Go to the court house they can put you in the right direction. You could even hyphanate your name.
I've been looking for years for a friend I grew up with in Canada in the Freelton, Ont. congregation. Her name was Audrey MacLeod. I'm thinking her dad's name was John, she had older brothers named John, Russell ?, a younger brother named Skyler who died at 8 yrs. old. There were about 6 or 7 kids. Any relative of yours? It's hard to keep track of girls because they grow up and get married and change their names.
